Rochester, NY: Below is the 2013 Pre-national Outdoor Championships Watch List for the James D. Ulrich Award (College Male Athlete of the Year - non-Division 1 Schools).
The members of 10 person watch list come from seven colleges and universities. The six athletes on the Also Mentioned list come from five schools. Between the two lists, seven colleges and universities are represented.
Buffalo State has the most members on the watch list with three (with one on the Also Mentioned list). The Cortland State also has two on the watch list and two on the Also Mentioned list.
This version of the watch list reflects the performances up through 18 May 2013 and takes into account the announcement of qualifiers for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships to be held 23-25 May 2013 in the Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, La Crosse, WI.

The list of finalists for each of the annual awards will be announced in mid-July. The public vote on the finalists begins on 17 July 2013 and ends on 14 August 2013.
The award winners will be announced at the 2013 Niagara Track & Field Hall of Fame Awards Banquet, to be held on 07 September 2013 at the RIT Inn & Conference Center in Rochester, NY.

About the James D. Ulrich Award
The James D. Ulrich Award, which debuted in 2012, is presented annually by the Niagara Track & Field Hall of Fame to the outstanding Male College Athlete of the Year from other than NCAA Division I Colleges in or from the Niagara Association.
Oneonta's Sean Bernstein is the reigning winner of the James D. Ulrich Award.
James D. Ulrich, a member of the Hall of Fame's Class of 2011, who is a former head track and field coach at Fredonia State where he coached five NCAA Division 3 National Champions. His teams won the New York State Collegiate Track and Field Conference (NYSCTFC) Men's Track & Field Championship 14 times Indoors and 13 times Outdoors; the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men's Track & Field Champions 14 times Indoors and 21 times (including 20 consecutive) Outdoors. Ulrich, who is highly decorated, was named the SUNYAC Coach of the Year thirteen times, NYSCTFA Coach of the Year eight times, NCAA Division III Regional Coach of the Year five times, and received the SUNYAC Service Award.

The Niagara Track & Field Hall of Fame Annual Awards program was developed to bring some well deserved recognition to the outstanding high school and college athletes and teams, and the top high school coach from the Niagara Association. These awards are presented at our annual awards banquet which is held on the Saturday after Labor Day.
The members of the Annual Awards Committee, the Board of Trustees, and the Hall of Fame Selection Committee vote on the finalists for each award. The general public will also cast votes on the finalists for these awards. The votes from the general public will be combined with the votes of the committee members to determine the winner of each award. Public voting will be held online and will run for approximately one month from - mid-July to mid-August of each year.
About the Niagara Track & Field Hall of Fame
Niagara Track & Field Hall of Fame and Virtual Museum is provisionally chartered by the Regents of the University of the State of New York. The purpose of the Niagara Track & Field Hall of Fame and Virtual Museum is to recognize those individuals who made significant and outstanding contributions to the Sport of Athletics (including Track & Field, Long Distance Running, Race Walking, and Cross Country Running) while living within the geographic boundaries (New York State West of and including the counties of Oswego, Onondaga, Cortland, and Broome) of the Niagara Association as athletes (including Masters), coaches, and/or administrators (including Competition Officials).
