Rochester, NY: Below is the 2013 Pre-NCAA Outdoor Championships Watch List for the Doriane Lambelet Award (College Female Athlete of the Year - Division 1 Schools).

The members of 10 person watch list come from six colleges and universities. The seven athletes on the Also Mentioned list come from four schools. Between the two lists, eight colleges and universities are represented.

Cornell University has the most members on the watch list with four. Syracuse University has one athlete on the watch list. Buffalo has four and Syracuse has one on the Also Mentioned list.

This version of the watch list reflects the performances up through 01 June 2013 and takes into account the qualifiers for the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships to be held at historic Hayward Field, on the campus of the University of Oregon, Eugene, OR on 05 - 08 June 2013. Nine women have qualified in ten events along with two relay teams for the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Ashley Fields (Baylor University) has qualified in the 200 meter dash, the 4x100 meter relay, and the 4x400 meter relay. Melissa Kurzdorfer (Penn State University) has qualified in the hammer throw and discus throw.

The list of finalists for each of the annual awards will be announced in mid-July. The public vote on the finalists begins on 17 July 2013 and ends on 14 August 2013.

The award winners will be announced at the 2013 Niagara Track & Field Hall of Fame Awards Banquet, to be held on 07 September 2013 at the RIT Inn & Conference Center in Rochester, NY.

About the Doriane Lambelet Award

Doriane Lambelet Award: Presented annually by the Niagara Track & Field Hall of Fame to the outstanding NCAA Division 1 College Female Athlete of the Year in or from the Niagara Association.

Penn State's Melissa Kurzdorfer is the reigning winner of the Doriane Lambelet Award

Doriane Lambelet Coleman, a member of the Hall of Fame's Class of 2006. A Cornell University graduate, Lambelet was an indoor AIAW Champion at 800 meters and won one US Championship. She is a five-time All-American, six-time Ivy League (Heptagonal) Champion (three times indoor and three times outdoors), and set five Cornell University records. While holding dual citizenship, she was a two-time Swiss National Champion at 800 meters and set numerous Swiss records on the track.

About the Niagara Track & Field Hall of Fame Annual Awards

The Niagara Track & Field Hall of Fame Annual Awards program was developed to bring some well deserved recognition to the outstanding high school and college athletes and teams, and the top high school coach from the Niagara Association. These awards are presented at our annual awards banquet which is held on the Saturday after Labor Day.

The members of the Annual Awards Committee, the Board of Trustees, and the Hall of Fame Selection Committee vote on the finalists for each award. The general public will also cast votes on the finalists for these awards. The votes from the general public will be combined with the votes of the committee members to determine the winner of each award. Public voting will be held online and will run for approximately one month from - mid-July to mid-August of each year.

About the Niagara Track & Field Hall of Fame

Niagara Track & Field Hall of Fame and Virtual Museum is provisionally chartered by the Regents of the University of the State of New York. The purpose of the Niagara Track & Field Hall of Fame and Virtual Museum is to recognize those individuals who made significant and outstanding contributions to the Sport of Athletics (including Track & Field, Long Distance Running, Race Walking, and Cross Country Running) while living within the geographic boundaries (New York State West of and including the counties of Oswego, Onondaga, Cortland, and Broome) of the Niagara Association as athletes (including Masters), coaches, and/or administrators (including Competition Officials).
