Rochester, NY: Below is the 2013 Semifinalist Watch List for the Jack Tupper Daniels Award (College Female Athlete of the Year - non-Division 1 Schools).

The members of 10 person watch list come from six colleges and universities. The nine athletes on the Also Mentioned list come from five schools. Between the two lists, six colleges and universities are represented.

Buffalo State, Cortland State, Geneseo State, and Ithaca College are tied with the most members on the watch list with four. Cortland State and Ithaca College each have three each on the Also Mentioned list.

This version of the watch list reflects the performances up through 25 May 2013 and takes into account the announcement results of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships that were held 23-25 May 2013 in the Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, La Crosse, WI.

The finalists for this award will be determined from this watch list.

The list of finalists for each of the annual awards will be announced in mid-July. The public vote on the finalists begins on 17 July 2013 and ends on 14 August 2013.

The award winners will be announced at the 2013 Niagara Track & Field Hall of Fame Awards Banquet, to be held on 07 September 2013 at the RIT Inn & Conference Center in Rochester, NY.

Sarah Bonnell, Cortland State
  • All-American in the long jump (5.81m (w)) after finishing in fifth place at the National Outdoor Championships. Also finished in 18th place in the 100 meter dash (12.32).
  • 2013 ECAC D III Outdoor Champion in the LJ (5.92m (w))
  • 2013 SUNYAC Outdoor Champion in the LJ (5.69m). Also finished third in the 100 meter dash (12.36, ran 12.16w in the prelims) and fourth in the 200 meter dash (25.50w, ran 25.23w in the prelims)
  • Finished in 11th place at the 2013 D III National indoor champs in the long jump (5.25m) and in 14th place in the 60m dash (8.01)

Jazmin Dunham, Buffalo State
  • Two-time National Outdoor Champion (200 meter dash (24.34 PB and school record) and 4x100 meter relay (46.30 in prelims, 46.22 in finals, both school records)) and three time All-American (finished second in the 100 meter hurdles (14.40, ran 14.05w in prelims)) at the National Outdoor Championships.
  • 2013 ECAC D III Outdoor champion in the 4x100 meter relay (46.99). Also finished second in her prelim race of the 100H at the (14.38). Didn't run the final.

Sasha Henry, Buffalo State
  • Two-time National Outdoor Champion (100 meter dash (12.01, ran 11.84 PB and school record in prelims) and 4x100 meter relay (46.30 in prelims, 46.22 in finals, both school records)) and three time All-American (finished second in the 200 meter dash (24.43, 24.26w in prelims)) at the National Outdoor Championships.
  • 2013 ECAC D III Outdoor champion in the 4x100 meter relay (46.99). Also finished sixth in her prelim race of the 100m at the (12.20). Didn't run the final.

About the Jack Tupper Daniels Award

The Jack Tupper Daniels Award, which debuted in 2012, is presented annually by the Niagara Track & Field Hall of Fame to the outstanding Female College Athlete of the Year from other than NCAA Division I Colleges in or from the Niagara Association.

Ithaca's Emma Dewart is the reigning winner of the Jack Tupper Daniels Award.

Dr. Jack T. Daniels, a member of the Hall of Fame's Class of 2003, who is a former Head Cross Country Coach at Cortland State. His women's cross country team won seven NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships and finished second once. The women's team won 11 SUNYAC team titles and six Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) team titles. Cortland women have earned 40 cross country All-American honors and four individual national titles. Cortland men won seven SUNYAC cross country team titles and earned five All-American awards. Cortland won the 1991 NCAA Division III Women's Indoor Track and Field national title. Between cross country and track, Daniels coached 20 national champions and more than 110 All-Americans. Daniels was named the NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country "Coach of the Century" and was the inaugural winner of national "Coach of the Year" honors in 1993. Daniels earned State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year honors twice and SUNYAC Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year twice.

About the Niagara Track & Field Hall of Fame Annual Awards

The Niagara Track & Field Hall of Fame Annual Awards program was developed to bring some well deserved recognition to the outstanding high school and college athletes and teams, and the top high school coach from the Niagara Association. These awards are presented at our annual awards banquet which is held on the Saturday after Labor Day.

The members of the Annual Awards Committee, the Board of Trustees, and the Hall of Fame Selection Committee vote on the finalists for each award. The general public will also cast votes on the finalists for these awards. The votes from the general public will be combined with the votes of the committee members to determine the winner of each award. Public voting will be held online and will run for approximately one month from - mid-July to mid-August of each year.

About the Niagara Track & Field Hall of Fame

Niagara Track & Field Hall of Fame and Virtual Museum is provisionally chartered by the Regents of the University of the State of New York. The purpose of the Niagara Track & Field Hall of Fame and Virtual Museum is to recognize those individuals who made significant and outstanding contributions to the Sport of Athletics (including Track & Field, Long Distance Running, Race Walking, and Cross Country Running) while living within the geographic boundaries (New York State West of and including the counties of Oswego, Onondaga, Cortland, and Broome) of the Niagara Association as athletes (including Masters), coaches, and/or administrators (including Competition Officials).
